Who We Are

Daadi means grandmother in Hindi—a symbol of nurturing care, lived wisdom, and unconditional love. These are the values we honour in every project, whether we're running shops in Spain or hand-delivering school supplies in India. At Daadi, we believe fashion can be a force for good. We’re a community-driven initiative dedicated to reducing textile waste through clothes swapping, upcycling, and mindful consumer choices. Every garment that finds a second life through Daadi helps reduce landfill, lower CO2 emissions, and challenge the fast fashion cycle. What began as a small mission to fund a school in India has grown into a movement that inspires people to rethink how they shop. We’re passionate about creating a world where clothes are cherished, not discarded—and where every swap tells a story of hope, community, and conscious change.
About Us

What We Do

Daadi Foundation started with a simple idea: connect communities through compassion. Founded by Lauren Staton and inspired by the strength of women in India, we now bridge Europe and India through sustainability, education, and shared love for humanity.

What began with a suitcase full of second-hand clothes and a heart full of hope has grown into a movement that empowers communities on two continents. Through clothes swaps in Spain, education in India, and handcrafted goods made by women in India, we unite people under a mission of circular giving, cultural respect, and lifelong learning. Our work is not just about clothing bodies, but about uplifting lives—especially those of children and women.

our mission

Driven by Purpose, Not Profit

As a non-profit organisation, everything we do is powered by people—not profits. Every euro we raise through clothes swapping, handmade crafts, and donations directly funds real change. We’ve helped secure school rent in India, supported local women in launching sustainable fashion ventures, and even responded to disaster relief needs when floods devastated a school community in Valencia, Spain.

We’re proud to support the growth of Saksham School in rural India, where children who once had little access to education now have a safe place to learn, play, and grow. We’re equally proud to be building a recovery fund in Spain to help a flood-damaged school reopen its doors.

Meet the Founder

I’m Lauren Staton, founder of Daadi – a not-for-profit project that brings people together through sustainable fashion. Inspired by my travels to India and a desire to support a small school near Jaipur, I created Daadi to offer clothing swaps, upcycling events, and our popular “clothes buffet” experiences.

Every tote bag filled helps reduce waste and fund education. For me, Daadi is about more than clothes – it’s about conscious living, community spirit, and making a positive impact.
